RILL Cymraeg – in collaboration with GwE – focuses on developing a high-quality Welsh-language programme, which is currently being piloted with the Ardudwy schools cluster. The Welsh-language materials have been specifically adapted, allowing for the linguistic traits of Welsh, paying special attention to mutations and common Welsh spelling patterns. The stories included in our programme have also been written by Welsh authors, specifically for the purposes of this programme.
RILL Cymraeg is about to enter a second stage, in which we will implement a regional roll out from March to July, collecting feedback and evaluations from current participating schools, and developing two bespoke versions: RILL-in-class, a version that can be used by the class teacher as a catch up aid once schools reopen, and RILL-remote, based on the current implementation procedure using remote learning. A key element of this next is also to offer remote support for the children who have been most severely compromised by school closures, and are most likely to suffer academically without suitable remediation.
