Digital features

Below we outline some of the digital features we make use of in the RILL project for increased engagement.

Microsoft OneNote and Teams

Each session is embedded in Microsoft OneNote and delivered via Microsoft Teams. Instructors and pupils take turns sharing and controlling their screens during each session.

Graphics Interchange Format (GIF)

The words of the day are exemplified using GIFs to illustrate meaning, which is then acted out by the child.

Google forms

After reading the passage of the day, comprehension questions are presented to the child via Google forms.

Audio books

An audio book with the child's narrative is optionally recorded during the final RILL session.

Developing general keyboard and computer skills

In each session, the child is encouraged to type some of their narrative, and to look for images online to illustrate their story.
